"I think I have a sense of intuition with this art, and whenever it comes, I take advantage of it and put it to work."
"I used to assist the late Mr. Agya Osei at his workshop and I used to ask him so many questions! His answer was always the same, 'Just learn – this is a good skill to have.' He was right of course. At the time, getting paid in a foreign currency was very rewarding, I felt like my effort hadn't been wasted.
"I think I have a sense of intuition with this art, and whenever it comes, I take advantage of it and put it to work. I prefer to work with sese wood and my tools are all manual including chisel, gorges, small hoes, knife, and sandpaper. I finish my pieces with acrylic paints.
I exhibited my work in Ghana, as well as in Berlin every year from 1997 to 2003, and in the United States from 2000 to 2003. I now have apprentices under my care, and when we receive large orders I am able to contact fine master carvers of the area to come to the workshop.
"I am married and have two children. I have high hopes for my association with Novica and their customers. I am certain you will like the work we do."
